Being an anime and gaming fanatic from a young age, I fantasized about a world filled with my favorite characters. Like my most treasured anime, Inu Yasha, where the female protagonist could time travel through a well, I wished for a world accessible only to me.
As I was in the imaginative world of animation, cosplay started as a source of joy and happiness, an escape from worldly troubles. Soon, I experimented with various costumes and makeup, and each cosplay dress-up became a product of art and a tribute to the characters.
Attending cosplays introduced me to a new community of cosplay lovers, from daydreaming about imaginary characters to becoming part of the group. It was no more about the attire or the glamour. It was about creating and interacting with like-minded people.
